Tyra Lynne Banks (Inglewood, California, December 4, 1973) is an American supermodel, actress, singer and author. She began her career as a model at the age of 16 and in 1997, she received the VH1 award for "Supermodel of the Year". She takes part in several films, numerous television series and in 1998 published the book "Tyra’s Beauty, Inside and Out”. She also appears in numerous music videos and in 2004 recorded the single "Shake Ya Body". She also founds the " Bankable Productions" that produces "America's Next Top Model" and "The Tyra Banks Show", for which she won an Emmy Award in 2008 and 2009. In 2011 she published her first novel, "Modelland", which appears on the New York Times best sellers list. In 1997 she was chosen as an angel by Victoria’s Secret and in 2007, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
